Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. Meet Violet! Violet raised 11 puppies…now it’s HER turn! This sweet 2-year-old hound mix adores other dogs & will steal your heart This 2-year-old hound mix isn’t just a sweetheart—she’s also a total dog’s dog! Violet LOVES other pups (especially puppies) and would be happiest in a home with a furry friend to show her the ropes. Cats? She pretty much ignores them. She's been very sweet and gentle around her fosters grandchildren (ages 1&4). She’s quiet, housebroken, and happily sleeps through the night in her bed, beside yours. She has her own little routine when it’s time to go outside—she likes to scout the yard a bit first before taking care of business! Life hasn’t given Violet many chances to play before, but she’s slowly discovering toys for the first time. She will play fetch with a tennis ball wrapped in a sock and loves it! Violet can be a bit timid at first, but she’s full of love and really wants to bond. If you give her the space and patience to come around at her own pace, she’ll reward you with trust and affection. Her foster mother says that once she feels comfortable, she’ll quietly follow you around and sometimes give a little “boop” to your leg when she wants attention—that’s how you know you’ve won her heart. If you’re looking for a loyal, gentle companion who just needs a little time to blossom, Violet might be your perfect match! Applications can be filled out at .piedmontanimalrescue/adopt! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
