Description
Dog Breed: Great Pyrenees (medium coat). Adopt Ozzy! This sweet, goofy, friendly, very handsome male Great Pyrenees is around 1 year old and on the small side, weighing a healthy 60 pounds. He is super friendly to everyone and everything, even cats! Ozzy’s nickname should be the cuddle man. He LOVES to cuddle every day. After doing his business and grabbing a few bites of food, he runs and jumps onto the couch for cuddles in the morning—one of the best ways to start the day. Ozzy’s journey is a testament to his resilience. He was found wandering the streets and brought to a local shelter. When we pulled him, he had extensive mats, fleas, flea scabs, and missing tooth enamel, likely due to a past battle of distemper. With a month of grooming and love in a foster home, he blossomed into a great family dog. He does get anxious in new situations; we don't blame him given his history. In his foster home, he continues growing and taking on new experiences daily. He will require patience from his new family while he initially settles in. For example, at first he was very unsure about the TV being on and was scared of it, but now he watches it while laying on the couch. His happy place is climbing into your lap and cuddling with you on the couch. We haven’t seen him with children, but we think he would be fine. He does like to jump in his excitement, so need to be careful around small kids and elderly he might accidentally knock over. His forever home must have another dog that will play and run with him. He is energetic and without a playful doggy buddy, Ozzy becomes anxious and restless. Ozzy also says that he must have toys in his forever home and that this is non-negotiable. He finds joy in playing with squeaky toys. Ozzy is fully house trained. However the first day in his foster home, he did mark, so his new family should take precautions at least for the first day while he adjusts in a new home. He is leash trained. He rides nicely in a car when he is belted, without a seatbelt he climbs all over. He barks a little when outside. He loves having lots of freedom of movement indoors and outdoors. He will do best in a home where he does not have to be crated as he gets anxiety and barks. Ozzy is the sweetest boy. He is looking for his forever family who will continue to support his sweet heart and trusting spirit. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere.
