Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). I would describe Rosie as an independent lover. She loves her people and wants to be close to them all the time, but she’s not a lapdog or cuddler. She just wants to be in your vicinity and will follow you from room to room usually settling in on the floor. She is allowed on my sofa, but rarely bothers. When she does get up there she stays in her own spot. She’s also allowed in my bed and will start most nights there, by my feet, and then move to her own bed at some point. When I come home from being out for a while she likes to get pets and give kisses, but otherwise she has her own gig. She does LOVE food. She WILL get into the garbage or food if she has access and this is her only challenge. She loves walks and does great on the leash. She’s an excellent ball chaser and likes to tease just a little before she gives back the ball. It’s pretty cute. Rosie is a terrier and I live in an active neighborhood so she can have her barking fits. If she’s outside barking and I call her in she’ll stop and run to the house. (Unlike my own terrier.) If she’s inside barking at the window she’s a little more stubborn. She still plays with her toys and likes her chewies. She’s never chewed anything she’s not supposed to except people food or garbage. She begs a little sometimes, but not in an intrusive way. She’s definitely trainable with food motivation and does know how to sit up for treats. She does need to lose a few pounds. More walking and ball chasing will fix that. We don’t take long walks as her legs are short and she tires quicker than larger dogs. She does well in the car, but will try to jump out with you if you’re not careful. She’s the kind who likes to ride with her head out of the window. Rosie’s previous owners did say she resource guards her people and that was an issue for them. I don’t know what kind of dog they had. She has no issues with my resident dog, however, he is old now and isn’t glued to me like he used to be when he was younger. If he was still on top of me all the time I could see her getting jealous. Something to consider. Otherwise, she is practically perfect. An absolute sweetheart and very easy to care for. She is a great companion dog. Will love you to bits while giving you your space. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
