Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Mixed (short coat). LIKES BATHS, CUDDLY, SWEET & SMART DIAMOND - 1-5 years old, 70 pounds, house trained, kid/cat/dog social Diamond arrived at VBACAC last year with two other shepherds. All were adopted but now, over a year later, we see Diamond's grey familiar face again due to no fault of her own. Diamond is great on the leash and enjoys walks. She even went on three road trips with her family which we are told she was fantastic. Diamond is kid/cat/and dog social. She was left frequently alone with the cat and everything was fine. Diamond is playful and loves all kinds of toys. She is scared of floating balloons. lol Diamond is house trained but if she eats human food or is left too long alone, she is likely to have an accident. It takes a hot minute for Diamond to get used to new people. Once done, you're golden. She loves to cuddle (when she is used to you) and knows several commands. Although she is very cuddly when she knows you, she does not enjoy being handled or groomed by those she does not know. Dislikes: toenails being cut Diamond is currently in a back kennel so if you come in to meet her and don't see her, please just ask.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
