Sweet momma looking for her forever home! COOPA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Coopa and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (10/12) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring, MD (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: Coopa Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and Cattle Dog mix Best Guess for Age: 3.5 years as of September 2025 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 37 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen Coopa with cats or kids, but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Coopa is Looking For: Her forever family! She and her puppies Arthur and Charlene landed in a shelter in far southern Texas. Coopa did a great job raising her babies to be amazing family pets and they went off in search of their own humans. Coopa is now seeking her own home! At around 36 lbs, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion—big enough for fun adventures, but small enough to curl up comfortably by your side. Coopa will thrive in a home where she can continue to show her loving nature, whether that’s through cuddles on the couch or joining you on walks. And of course she's looking for romps in parks and all the adventures she can get - she's ready to go anywhere by your side! What do you say? Is she the companion you have been seeking? What My Foster Says About Me: Coopa is so cute! She is very affectionate and bonds with her humans quickly. She loves nothing more than to be next to you, wherever you are, and snuggles and wiggles her little body against you. She hasn’t had any accidents and does not pull on leash. She is quiet in her crate throughout the night, and during the day. She has been respectful of our cat, but seems to have a high prey drive for other critters. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
