Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 350.00. All dogs listed here are available for adoption from Yorkie Rescue Houston. Our goal is to ensure our rescued pets go to their forever home and never end up back in the system. To that end, an application is required on all potential adopters. Our adoption fee varies by dog. We accept electronic funds via VENMO or Paypal, or cash only. Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only. A FTA contract is required. HW+ Myles has completed his HW treatment and is ready for his forever home. Myles has been abused/neglected. He seems to do fine with the balanced dogs in our pack, however, positively NO CHILDREN This dog has a bite history. Myles has no teeth, so he inflicts minimal damage when he bites. If you startle him, he will react! His new mom MUST be dog savvy, and know how to handle a reactive dog. He cannot hear well, and he cannot see well. He loves cuddle time. Myles is not house-broke and may never be. His family must be prepared to keep him on a schedule, be ready, willing and able to help him stay dry and comfortable. Myles loves outdoor time and would benefit from leash walks. Myles has a dark past. He was a prisoner in a wretched breeder mill. By time we got to him, he, along with the other 7 we pulled, were in deplorable condition. He's made an amazing recovery, but will have some emotional trauma for the rest of his life. Myles is Heartworm positive and will get treatment. --Complete

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
