Adoption APPLICATION: Muttsinneed/adoption-application ** Application must be completed prior to a meet & greet. Our Adoption Process:Muttsinneed/adoption-process Meet Little Boy! This sweet 4-year-old, 15 lb pup has been through a lot but hasn’t lost his loving spirit. He came to us after being hit by a car and left at a shelter with a broken leg. Now fully healed and feeling great, he’s ready to find his forever home! Little Boy is affectionate, playful, and a big fan of both people and other dogs he's properly introduced to. He clearly knew love before and is extremely affectionate with humans. He knows how to use a doggy door trained and he also understands basic commands like “lie down” and even picks up on phrases like “time to go to bed”—he’s smart like that! Like many rescues, he’s still working on a few things. He can be a bit of a food thief if snacks are left within reach and is working on his manners when on a leash when meeting new dog friends. However, with consistency and setting clear expectations, he’s happy to play and gets along well with confident, dog-savvy companions. With time, he will make a great dog sibling (like in his current foster home) Little Boy would do best in a secure home (he can be a bit of a Houdini!) so a home without a yard or if you have a yard, minimum 5ft fence. He may try to slip past you at the door and is quite skilled at wiggling out of a harness, so a slip lead setup and vigilance during transitions will be key. In return, he promises loyalty, entertainment, and lots of love. Apply to meet Little boy at .muttsinneed/adoption-application.html

Breed overview
Overview:
The Jack-Rat Terrier, a captivating crossbreed of the Rat Terrier and Jack Russell Terrier, originated from the desire to combine the best traits of its energetic parents. These medium-sized dogs typically sport a short, smooth coat in various colors, often with distinctive markings, and possess a lean, muscular build. Temperamentally, they are known for being intelligent, highly energetic, and affectionate, making them a lively addition to the right household. While their size might suggest apartment living is possible, their significant exercise needs mean they thrive with a yard and an active family committed to daily walks and playtime. They are generally good with children and other pets when properly socialized, but their strong prey drive requires careful supervision around smaller animals. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can inherit predispositions to conditions like luxating patella or leg-calve-perthes disease, common in their parent breeds. Early training and consistent mental stimulation are crucial for a well-adjusted Jack-Rat Terrier.
