Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie (medium coat). ***The first step in the adoption process is to complete the application at .emmetcountyanimalshelter*** Lucy is another of our precious senior pups! She is a little over 10 years old and was an owner surrender when she no longer was loving living with the chaos of a home with multiple pets and kids. That isn't to say that Lucy wouldn't be ok living in a calm home with older gentle kids and another calm dog. We are told she doesn't like cats but we can certainly test that out! Maybe she just didn't like those cats??? Lucy is potty trained but can also use a piddle pad if that works for you. She is sweet and playful but likes best to cuddle and take naps. Oh and bark at the squirrels out the big picture window in her foster home! She rides nicely in the car and is good on a leash. Do you think you might have a spot for this petite princess to rule over her own castle and nap upon a satin pillow? Lucy is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $275.00

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
