We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Butterbut is up to date on vaccines for his age. Butterbut's mom is Opal, a black toy poodle mix who arrived in rescue as part of the Raleigh Puppy Mill bust. Our best guess is that Opal is a poodle, but she came from a puppy mill where there were also chihuahuas and pomeranians. Given this, our best guess is that her puppies are poodle mixes. We cannot guarantee that he is hypoallergenic or that he won't shed. Weight: 4.2 lbs and growing - we estimate Butterbut will be between 15-20 lbs when full grown Height: 6 in and growing - we estimate Butterbut will be ~12 inches when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No. Butterbut is too young to be neutered. He will be placed on a spay/neuter addendum requiring you to neuter him at your expense within 12 months and provide proof of neuter. Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? We are looking for a very specific home for Butterbut. If you do not meet all of these criteria, your application will not be considered. First, Butterbut requires another active dog in the home. He loves to play and is looking for a canine playmate in his forever home. Second, Butterbut requires a family where someone is home more than they are away. You could work from home, home school, be an active retiree or have a stay-at-home family member. The key is that your dogs are not alone for more than 2-3 hours each day. Finally, Butterbut is looking for a home that takes their dogs places. Socialization with other people and animals is key. It could be road trips, running errands, visits with family, planned playdates with friends, etc. What is my personality like? Are you looking for a playful but independent pup - then look no further than Butterbut! This striking young man is looking for adventure and fun! With a name as silly as Butterbut, you can't help but fall in love. This boy is the biggest cuddle bug with a voice he's not afraid to use when he needs his humans! PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc.) How do I act when I first meet new people? Butterbut is as silly as his name. He'll have you laughing from the first introduction! Other tips and tidbits: Butterbut was born into rescue on 07/04/2025. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
