Description
Dog Breed: Cattle Dog. Currently located at our Owensboro, KY location Meet Lucille the sweetest Cattle Dog Mix with the most adorable ear that sticks out sideways — it’s impossible not to fall in love! We’re still getting to know this precious pup, but so far, we've learned that she loves to explore the play yard and seems to know some basic commands, making her a smart cookie that has amazing potential! Lucille is currently waiting to be spayed, so for now, she’s only available to be fostered… but here’s the best part — fosters get first choice to adopt once she’s ready! And trust us, once you meet her, you won’t want to let her go. Can you open your home to Lucille? She’s ready to steal your heart. All of our dogs are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped and spayed or neutered.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
