Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). At just 31 pounds, Howie may be compact, but his personality is anything but small. This three-year-old hound mix is a walking ray of sunshine—equal parts silly, snuggly, and sweet. With his floppy ears, soulful eyes, and a tail that never stops wagging, Howie has mastered the art of making people smile. He’s the kind of pup who greets every day like it’s his birthday: full of joy, curiosity, and a little bit of goofy charm. Whether he’s trotting around with a toy in his mouth, flopping over for belly rubs, or doing his signature “happy dance” when he sees his favorite humans, Howie’s zest for life is contagious. Howie is a social butterfly who’s always up for a cuddle or a game of chase. He’s got just the right amount of houndy curiosity to keep things interesting, but he’s also a total softie who loves to lounge and soak up affection. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a goofy grin and a heart full of love, Howie’s your guy. He’s ready to be your best friend, your adventure buddy, and your daily dose of laughter.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
