Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat). Meet Chili Pepper! Location: Apex, NC Age: 2 years Breed: Australian Cattle Dog If you’re looking for a loyal adventure buddy with zero spice and all the sweetness, Chili Pepper is your guy! This 2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog is full of love, smiles, and playful energy. He walks well on a leash & would love to explore! Although he isn’t a running buddy, we think long woodsy walks (hiking) are more his thing! Chili walks great on a leash, loves to explore, and is always ready to tag along for the ride. He’s dog- and cat-friendly, and while he’s shown nothing but gentle affection and a goofy personality, we think he will do better in a home without young children and prefer children 10+. Chili is a strong, muscular boy—but don’t let that fool you. He’s not super mouthy or rough, just sometimes forgets his own strength when he's excited to be near you (especially if your lap looks like a comfy spot to sit!). Chili also has a very strong food drive. He weighs under 40lbs and has a appealing athletic body frame to match his brain! * Kennel trained * Social with dogs and people * Adventure-ready * Potential for dog sports or active lifestyle (he's got the HOPS) Chili Pepper would thrive in an active home where he can be part of the fun—and maybe even explore a little agility or sport work! He loves being with his people and will happily follow you from room to room, smiling the whole way. Interested in adopting this sweet boy? Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
