Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Meet Blue Bell! Blue Bell is a 7-month-old sweetheart who’s full of love and personality. At just 18 pounds, she’s the perfect size for cuddles—and she’ll happily trade her crate for a cozy spot in bed next to you. This playful pup is potty trained, crate trained, and friendly with everyone she meets. She loves other dogs of all sizes, gets along well with cats, and has a silly side—chasing bugs and toads is one of her favorite pastimes! Blue Bell does show some food resource guarding, but with patience, consistency, and training, this is something she can overcome. She’s still young and eager to learn, making her a wonderful candidate for a family ready to guide her. After coming up from Southern Illinois, Blue Bell is now looking for her forever home—a place where she can shower her humans with affection and be the snuggly, playful companion she was born to be. Could Blue Bell be the one to fill your home with love and laughter? Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
