Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed (medium coat). Elmyra is ten pounds of lovable puppy mischief! This adorable 7 month old is the best mix of playful, silly, and sweet — guaranteed to keep you smiling from morning zoomies to evening snuggles. She loves meeting new people and showing off her tricks, including an "acrobatic" move where she rolls onto her back and catches a toy mid-air! Even though she's still a youngster, Elmyra is already super smart, food-motivated, and eager to learn — picking up on commands like “sit” and “leave it,” enjoying training games, and thriving with enrichment like snuffle mats and puzzle feeders. When she’s not busy playing or learning, she’s happiest snoozing belly-up in your lap, and with structure and routine she truly shines — the kind of pup who loves starting the day with a long walk and some mental enrichment. This pint-sized princess adores everyone she meets, but make no mistake: Elmyra is a LOT of puppy who really puts the "punk" in "spunk"! She's still working on those puppy manners, which means she's bouncy, grabby with toys (and sometimes hands, sleeves, or anything else in reach), and tends to go full-throttle when she’s excited. She also has big feelings about other dogs, so calm walks past canine neighbors are a work in progress. The great news is that she's one smart cookie, and we know she'll blossom into an amazing companion with consistency, structure, and plenty of outlets for her energy. For the right adopter — one with patience and a great sense of humor — Elmyra will reward you with love, joy, and tons of hilarious antics. If you're ready to welcome this peppy puppy into your heart and home, please email us or submit your application to learn more about adopting Elmyra! Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
