Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky / Alaskan Malamute / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Blue Blue is a gentle soul wrapped in a husky’s coat. Calm, affectionate, and endlessly sweet, he leans in for love and melts into every bit of attention he receives. Unlike the high-energy stereotype of his breed, Blue has a slower, softer pace — more interested in companionship than constant adventure. He generally walks nicely on leash but is reactive to some dogs at closer distances. He responds to correction from his handler. While he’ll chase a ball for fun, he’s just as happy to drop it and settle back into your company. Blue is a bit overweight and heat-sensitive, so he’ll need a caring family to help him stay comfortable and healthy. With a heart as tender as his gaze, Blue is waiting for a patient home that will celebrate his calm and loving spirit. We recently introduced Blue to one of our social female dogs, and he did not seem to want doggy friends at this time. We think he'd prefer to be your one and only dog. To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!

Breed overview
Overview:
The Alusky, a captivating hybrid of the Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky, originated from the desire to blend the best traits of these powerful Arctic breeds. Physically, they are medium to large dogs, boasting a thick double coat that comes in a variety of colors and often features the striking blue or bi-colored eyes inherited from the Husky, alongside the sturdy build of the Malamute. Temperamentally, Aluskys are known for being intelligent, energetic, and loyal. They thrive on human companionship and require significant exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destructive behaviors. While generally good with families, their high energy levels and strong prey drive mean they are less suited for apartment living and benefit from a secure yard. Potential owners should be aware of common health concerns like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye conditions, making responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups essential for a healthy companion.
