Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Like your own little four-leaf clover, you could adopt a little bit of luck yourself if you adopt Lucky. This hunky pitta-potamus came into the Shelter after living in a home with teens, men and women. His favorite activities in his previous home were walking and going on runs. He would go for daily walkies with his family, an activity he’d love to continue in his next spot. Lucky has lived with cats previously and may enjoy a home with a dog-savvy cat. He also has experience living with ducks and chickens. He knows “sit” and “paw”. Lucky primarily hung out outdoors in his previous home but has the potential to be a couch potato buddy after his daily walk. Lucky's adoption fee is sponsored by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation thanks to “Leave No One Behind fund” – designed to adopter’s eyes towards animals who have been in the Shelter’s care a little longer than average waiting for the right adopter. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
