Name: Little Petunia Best Guess for Breed: Pit bull terrier mix Best Guess for Age: 4 months as of 9/24/25 SEX: Female Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 30 lbs as of 9/14/25 Gets Along With: Petunia is great with other dogs and has lived with a dog, cats, and toddlers! Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training. Currently Living at: DC area home Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy. All about Little Petunia: Petunia is truly a lucky, lucky dog! She was dumped by the side of a road and found by exactly the right people - a family who took her in, got her all her shots and care, and are providing her a safe place to stay while she looks for her forever home! They love her but are unable to keep her long term. They say she's a great puppy. She loves playing with other dogs, is friendly towards the cats in the home, and has friendly, normal puppy like behavior towards the children in the home. She sleeps well overnight in the crate, only crying in the morning to alert her family she needs to get out to go potty. She's showing normal puppy behavior in all areas - walks well on leash, doesn't pull, pays attention to her surroundings and the humans walking her. She's being very well taken care of right now, being wonderfully socialized with humans of all ages, other dogs, and cats. She is learning all the things puppies need to learn, and is off to a great start in making a wonderful family pet for her forever family. She and they will be very lucky to have each other! Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog. Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than November 28, 2025. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets. Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.
