Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. Meet 3 Year Old Ziggy! Three words to describe him? Sweet, strange, and shy. This 7lb little character has a unique blend of quirks and tenderness that make him one of a kind. He loves nothing more than curling up on your lap for cuddles or being out for walks soaking up the sun. Though he has a low-key energy most of the time, you can tell there’s a playful side inside him just waiting to come out. Ziggy loves other dogs and takes comfort in their company, he’s polite, follows their lead, and knows how to set boundaries. While he hasn’t met cats, his enthusiasm for chasing birds and squirrels suggests he’d do best in a cat-free home. He’s fully housetrained once he settles into a routine and feels secure. His crate is his happy place, he uses it to nap during the day and must sleep there at night to feel safe and avoid separation anxiety, something he is working hard on. Outside, he’s a sweet little walker who’s still learning confidence on leash and in new environments. Ziggy is working on the basics like “stay” and recall, and he’s just beginning to learn how to be a dog, how to play, explore, and trust. His ideal home would be with someone patient and loving, possibly with another calm dog to show him the ropes. Ziggy might be small, but his personality fills the room. He’s a sweet little soul who just needs the right person to help him blossom.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
