Description
Dog Breed: Terrier. This 1 year old, 8 pound Chihuahua mix was rescued from a hoarding case and is now discovering what it means to be safe, loved, and to shine. Ziva is as sweet as they come, calm, curious, and happiest when cuddled up next to her person. She’s an excellent little nap buddy but also loves her walks, where she gets to explore and sniff everything around her. She’s gentle with kids, respectful of cats, and polite with other dogs. Sometimes she’ll playfully bounce around other pups, but other times she’s just as content to mind her own business. She’s house-training quickly and doing so well on a routine. Ziva walks nicely on leash, though she can be a little stubborn if she decides she wants to follow new friends on the street (it’s part of her curious charm!). At night, she’ll happily curl up next to you for snuggles. Ziva is so adaptable that she could thrive almost anywhere, with a family, a single adopter, city or suburbs. She would love someone who’s around enough to give her affection and keep her potty training progress on track!

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
