Dog Breed: Cane Corso Mastiff (medium coat). *Davy Jones is the King of the Shelter! * He is super sweet and wants to say hi to everyone * Davy got out of his kennel during morning cleaning and ran straight to staff! * Davy gave no issues with leashing and walking back to kennel. * Once back into his kennel he sat on his bed and pouted the whole the rest of the morning. -IC * Davy knows how to sit, but needs work on stay. * He showed interest in toys and treats, but does NOT take treats gently. * Davy Jones is very excited to see you and wants attention, he will wiggle his nub and give your hand kisses! â¢While we strive to provide accurate information about the observations of pets in our care, please be advised that all behavior described was observed in an animal shelter environment and that pets may behave differently in response to new environments or experiences. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
