Dog Breed: Unknown breed (short coat). Savannah was surrendered by owner when the owners brought in a new toy poodle into the home and Savannah did not get along with the new addition. Her owners describe her as sweet, loving, and likes to be with people. She does not like small dogs but has said to do well with large dogs. She is friendly with children, and does not like cats. She is in the back kennel, Just ask to meet her! Original Bio from 2023: Savannah! 4.5 years old. 51 pounds so a great medium size. Surrendered due to financial constraints. This girl can be talkative and a little apprehensive of new people at first but warms up fast. Housetrained. Likes kids and dogs. Doesn’t like the rain or being wet. Likes stuffed toys and kongs with peanut butter!

In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
