Description
Dog Breed: Terrier (medium coat). Courtesy Post – Rehoming Needed This dog is not at the shelter. Meet Pepper – a gentle senior male Terrier (gray). ✔️ Neutered: Yes ✔️ Vaccines: Not current ✔️ Crate trained: Yes ✔️ Potty trained: Unknown Pepper’s original owner passed away, and he has been in the care of extended family for the past couple of years. Sadly, during that time he lived primarily outdoors and did not receive the care he needed. A family member stepped in to remove Pepper from his situation so he has a chance at proper medical care and a more comfortable life. Pepper is friendly with children, dogs, cats, and even livestock. Despite his neglect, he remains sweet and people-oriented. He does, however, need veterinary care for severe matting, possible skin irritations, and dental issues. Pepper deserves a safe and loving retirement home where he can receive the care, comfort, and companionship he has been missing. If you are interested in giving Pepper the chance at a better life, please contact his temporary caregiver, Aspen, directly: Phone: (971) 285-6669 Email: aspenxjohnstongmail All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months). All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
