Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Bubba showed up at my brothers house several weeks ago. He is spayed, back dew claws removed, and obedient. He has definitely been trained. When he showed up the pads of his feet were badly burned from being on the hot asphalt road. We had the sheriff and animal control come out. He is not chipped and so they recommended that we put him down as there was no place with any room for him. We feed and make sure that he has water. We also made him a shelter. Bubba lays by the door whining when we are inside. He wants to come in but he is not cat friendly and my brother also has a puppy that Bubba loves to play with when he is out. He does like to run but never far. A fenced in yard would be ideal. He can appear to be aggressive to others who come there but he warms up to them pretty quickly. We would keep him if there were any way possible. We cannot give him all of the love and attention that he craves. **** Breed: Mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2188583&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
