Description
Dog Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Avery: Your Next Snuggle & Adventure Buddy! Female 1 year old Hi there! My name is Avery, and I'm a sweet, friendly 1-year-old Female Pit Bull Terrier looking for a family to call my own. My foster parents say I'm an absolute gem! I'm completely kid-friendly and get along great with other dogs. I'm past my puppy-crazies and am well-mannered on the leash, making me an excellent partner for adventures—whether it's a walk in the park or a fun hike. A few things you should know about me: Food is my love language! I am extremely food motivated, which means I'm super easy to train and a quick learner. Got a treat? You've got my attention. I'm not a morning person. My idea of a perfect wake-up call is a slow stretch and a snuggle (after breakfast, of course!). I'm a champion cuddler! At the end of the day, there's nothing I love more than snuggling right up in bed with my people. My past is, well, my past—and I'm not looking back. All that matters is that my heart is open, and I'm ready to pour all my love into my new family. If you're looking for a dog who is loyal, loving, adventure-ready, and a world-class snuggler, please call or email my foster parent to set up a meet-and-greet! I can't wait to meet you! Overview:
The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a robust and intelligent breed, originating in the United States from crossbreeding Old English Terriers and Old English Bulldogs for dog-fighting purposes. Physically, they are medium-sized, known for their muscular build, broad heads, and powerful jaws, typically weighing between 30-60 pounds. Their coats are short and come in a wide array of colors. Temperamentally, a well-socialized APBT is often described as loyal, affectionate, and people-oriented, displaying a playful and sometimes clownish demeanor. They can be excellent family companions, provided they receive consistent training and early socialization, though their high energy levels mean they thrive with active owners. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient exercise, a house with a secure yard is often preferred. Notable health considerations include a predisposition to hip and elbow dysplasia, allergies, and certain heart conditions.
