Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Hi! I'm Oreo! I'm an approximately 11 month old, male, Australian Cattledog/Heeler! I am being surrendered to the shelter by my owner because life changed and she is unfortunately unable to keep me. I am a sweet boy looking for his fresh start! I am crate trained and RAC staff is confident I can be fully house trained once on a set schedule. I am a little shy but open up quickly when presented with snacks! I love to run and play with kids of all ages. I know basic commands and listen well to instructions. I am currently in a foster home so meet and greets will be by approved application only. My adoption fee is $125. I am neutered, microchipped, current on my rabies vaccination and basic boosters, and I am heartworm negative! All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
