Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (medium coat). ***I am currently in a Foster Home and not located at the Shelter. An appointment is required to meet me!*** Hello, my name is Scooby! I came to the shelter when my owner passed away. I'm currently in a foster home because I thought the shelter was a scary place. I can be scared of loud noises, fast movements, and new people. In my foster home I like to be where ever my foster mom is and I follow her room to room. There are 3 other large dogs in my foster home. I do well with them but they are very respectful and back off when I ask them for space. My foster mom says I'm a great dog! She thinks I would do best in a home where the humans are already saavy with herding breeds. Children may be scary for me with their fast movements and loud noises, but I would do ok with respectful teens and older. Please keep checking my profile for updates as the staff get to know me better! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes: - initial canine distemper combination vaccination - first worming or stool check - rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age) - 24 Petwatch microchipping - flea treatment/preventative - spaying or neutering -heartworm testing Adoption fee: $135.00 Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20) Leash and collar included

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
