Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Don’t let her fluffy white muzzle and sweet eyes fool you—this little girl has a big personality! Ember is an absolute darling, but her foster family says her nickname should really be Miss Houdini—she can climb, crawl, jump, and wiggle her way out of just about anything. Acrobat? Escape artist? Both! Ember also has a bold, playful side. She may be small, but she’s mighty. She’s smart, spirited, and full of fun. With other dogs, Ember does great, and she’s likely to be wonderful with kids too. She’s at least partially housebroken, and while she likes to be the boss on the ground, scoop her up and she melts into a cuddlebug, gazing up at you with pure affection. If you’re looking for a pup with brains, personality, and lots of love to give, Ember might just be your perfect match. Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
