Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Banjo is a 12-year-old male Beagle. He was my dog for seven years, and then my husband passed and I had to move into a smaller home and rehomed him. He has been living in North Carolina for the past five years, but his owner there recently passed. The family reached out to me to see if I could take him again, but I am unable to at this time. I have agreed to try to rehome him. Any option in NC or GA would be great. He is healthy other than being overweight. I have the records from the vet in NC. He is behind on shots. Not neutered. He has started acting out since his owner's passing, but she had told me before her passing that he was amazing and she was pleased with him and that he was a good boy. Can walk on a leash. Good with other pets. Will consider meeting halfway for potential owners in states bordering Georgia. **** Breed: Beagle **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2188634&flag=1

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
