Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). This gentle boy has been through so much, yet she still radiates sweetness. A kind Good Samaritan rescued her after he was found tied to a tree and abandoned. They cared for him for 5 months but sadly could no longer keep her now he’s ready for the forever family he truly deserves. Home Life & Social Skills: Lived with adults and children — very gentle with kids Had an 8-foot fenced yard — never tried to escape, completely potty trained Did very well both alone and with family With dogs: Playful With strangers: A little fearful at first, but warms up with patience Personality: Sweet couch potato who loves to relax by your side Favorites & Quirks: Loves chew toys A true cuddle companion and easy-going girl Shy with strangers at first, but loyal and loving once she trusts you Why he’s Special: After being left behind, he still has nothing but love to give. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
