Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). Oh, My Shaila! She is a quiet and reserved girl who tends to keep to herself, especially when meeting new people. In her kennel, sheâs very tidy and calm. The way to sweet Shaila's heart is quality time and words of affirmation, we have noticed once she warms up to people, her true affectionate nature shows. So far at the shelter, Shaila has met other dogs and been curious. She may do well with another dog in the home, provided they met at the shelter prior to adoption, to make sure they click. In her previous home, Shaila spent the majority of her time outdoors, and will need patience adjusting to life indoors. Like many Huskies, Shaila is talkative and active. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering âPawsitivity Bucksâ with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Breed overview

Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Chukcha, Chuksha
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is very similar in looks to the Alaskan Malamute, yet somewhat smaller in build and not quite as bold. Still, he needs a strong-willed owner who will stay in control. This dog loves to roam and explore, so he needs a nice big yard.
