Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat). Location: Albany, NY Hi, I’m Dewy—the belly rub king! I’m 4 months old, about 20 pounds of puppy charm, and still discovering this big, wild world. I haven’t seen everything yet, so sometimes I bark at new stuff (gotta keep my foster mom on her toes!), but I’m super easy to redirect with a treat and a “sit.” I’m learning fast—especially when snacks are involved. My favorite things? Belly rubs, playing with my little brother Jack, and curling up after a good romp. I’m crate-trained and doing great with potty training. I know “sit”, “come”, and I am learning “wait”. I sleep through the night like a champ. I’m a heeler mix, but I’ve got a softer side—more snuggles, less herding. If you’re looking for a sweet, playful pup who’s ready to explore life by your side, I’m your guy. Mom thinks I may have an instinct to chase a cat (and squirrels), so I may do best with no small critters. Dewey is working on dog reactivity. By the time of adoption Dewy will have been dewormed two times, received his round of vaccinations, and been microchipped. He will go out on a spay/neuter contract. Email Sue (foster mom ACDRA) at suesukup123gmail. Applications can be filled out at .acdra/adoption-application.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
