Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog / Mixed. George is an example of a life that was almost thrown away. After a last minute plea from a person who volunteers at a high kill shelter and reached out to us to save his life, we made a space for George. Although we were prepared for George to be in poor condition based on his medical records, the level of neglect that he had suffered was shocking to our staff and volunteers on his arrival. He weighs less than 60 pounds, probably about 40 pounds less than his ideal weight; his fur is patchy and nonexistent in many places, and his skin is irritated, thickened, and full of sores. In spite of this, George is a happy, loving, cheerful dog who meets everyone with a wagging tail and kisses. All George needs to recover is some high quality food, regular baths, and some loving care, all of which he will receive now that he is safe. George likes other dogs but really loves people, he will snuggle up and nap with you all day long! A foster home where George can recover his strength and vitality would be best for him. George is a testament to the ability of dogs to forgive humans of unthinkable cruelty. Help us find his happy ever after!
