Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Pear just arrived to our rescue on 9/20/25 where she found her self on the E list and no interest from no one until a wonderful foster stepped up and wanted to save her life Pearl is a gentle soul with a heart as big as her eyes are wide. This sweet, shy girl was found wandering the streets, likely on her own for quite some time. Life on her own made her cautious and timid, but beneath her quiet demeanor is a loving spirit waiting to bloom. She was safely trapped and brought to the shelter, where she’s slowly beginning to learn that kind hands and soft voices mean safety and care. Pearl may take a little time to warm up, but once she does, her loyalty and love will be unwavering. If you’re looking for a calm, sensitive companion who just needs a little patience and a lot of love, Pearl might be your perfect match

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
