Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat). Larry is a yorkipoo puppy working on potty training and doing very well. He has very few accidents and very often goes shortly after getting outside. He is also working on kennel training, which is a bit tougher for him at times, but he is doing pretty well. At times, Larry will bark at first for a bit, but typically, he settles down pretty quickly and does well. He is doing a great job at night in his crate. He is sleeping throughout the night and not having any accidents. He has not been around cats to our knowledge, so I cannot say how he would do. He does very well with our other foster dog and also does well with children. As you would expect for a puppy, he will jump and is mouthy, but not overly so. Larry loves attention and is pretty happy to be carried around, play, and cuddle in your lap. He is getting better with the leash, but still will spend a lot of time frozen when a leash is on him. He is still skittish of stairs and has often shown a generally timid attitude at first. It took him a little longer to become comfortable in our home and with new things, but given just a little time, he does great. He does seem to get sick in the car. He has the energy you would expect from a puppy, and loves to play - but he also really loves to snuggle and be pet. He has grown especially fond of cuddling with our 8 year old son. Larry is a very sweet pup who will make a great companion. He is fun and affectionate and will bring you lots of laughs. *Larry will need dental work at our vet, at the rescue's expense, so you must be able/willing to bring him to the vet in Coon Rapids or Maple Grove* Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $950.00

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
