Description
Dog Breed: Dachshund / Mixed (short coat). This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Meet Dory, a one-year-old Dachshund with a heart as sweet as her big brown eyes! This adorable little girl weighs just 18 pounds with the longest little body, short legs, and an adorable underbite that makes her extra endearing. Dory has an easygoing, gentle spirit that makes her the perfect companion for a relaxed, happy home. Dory is the definition of “easy as Sunday morning” — calm, affectionate, and content to play quietly with her toys or lounge nearby while you go about your day. Dory loves her toys (especially her plush skunk!) and will happily entertain herself by playing tug, chasing her tail, or even trying to make friends with her own reflection in the window. She’s an observant, curious little soul who perks up when she hears birds outside and bounces with excitement like a tiny spring lamb. Dory listens well, learns routines quickly, is very treat motivated and is mostly housetrained — she just needs a little patience and supervision during potty time to stay on track. At night, she’s a dream in her crate, sleeping soundly and peacefully until morning. She is shy with strangers, but her love for dog friends helps her come out of her shell. Dory is learning leash skills and rides quietly in a crate in the car. She’s currently living with a friendly foster dog who’s helping her gain confidence and learn the ropes, so she’d love a home with another calm, welcoming dog to show her the way. Dory is a sensitive girl with a gentle tummy and a sweet nature, so she does best on easily digestible food and with a little time to warm up to new places and faces. Once she settles in, Dory’s personality shines — she’ll walk around the house proudly with her tail held high, ready to share her heart, her toys, and her endless affection with her new family. She would do best in a calm, patient home with at least one other dog, where she can continue to gain confidence and show off her playful side. With time, routine, and encouragement, Dory will reward her people with a cheerful spirit, endless doggy games, and that irresistibly cute wagging tail. Interested in adopting? Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption.
