Description
Dog Breed: West Highland White Terrier Westie / Chihuahua (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 620. ✨ Meet Mellow ✨ If you’re looking for a true companion dog, Mellow is your girl! She loves to be near her people and will follow you everywhere just to be close. At night, she’s the perfect snuggle buddy—she sleeps right through the night and doesn’t get up until you do (her foster says that’s their favorite part!). Mellow enjoys her bones, but she’s not into toys or treats. What she really loves is people—she’s happiest when she’s with you. She’s good with cats, dogs, and absolutely everyone she meets. She walks wonderfully on a leash and is working on her potty training—just a few little piddles here and there, but mostly does her business outside. While she’s fine in a crate, she’d much rather be with her humans. If you want a sweet, loyal, people-loving pup to brighten your days, Mellow is ready to be your shadow and your snuggle buddy. ❤️

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
