Dog Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Meet Harlem, your future best buddy! This 3-year-old big guy is not just strong—he's got the charm to match with his stunning gray patchy coat and that one mesmerizing blue eye that’ll melt your heart every time he looks at you for a treat. Harlem loves his daily walks, but fair warning: he starts off as a bit of a strong puller! It’s just his way of saying he’s excited to explore the world after being cooped up in a kennel. Once he gets some energy out, he turns into an inquisitive explorer, sniffing around and enjoying every moment outdoors. And let’s talk about treats! When Harlem knows you’ve got some goodies, he can get a little jumpy. But don’t worry—he’s been working hard on his “sit,” “wait,” and “watch me” commands, and he’s learning that patience pays off when all four paws are on the floor (watch video below)! Harlem also knows how to come when called, making him not only adorable but also a smart cookie! Plus, this handsome fella enjoys pets and affection. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who brings joy to every day, Harlem is your guy. Harlem has participated in shelter playgroups and may enjoy a compatible canine friend in his new home. He does much better with female dogs than male dogs, so we think he'd do best in a home with a social female. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too.
