Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Timothy was found in Texas in horrible shape. It was obvious he hadn’t been well cared for or had been out on his own for a long time. All of that is behind him now as he joins the NorthStar family and is learning what it’s like to be loved. Timothy is 8 years old and weighs 16 pounds. He is a little cautious meeting new people but we expect that to improve as he gains confidence. As we get to know more about him, we will update here. When he is in better shape, he would love to find a forever home where he never be neglected again. If you'd like to help out Timothy, please fill out an application at .northstarpets and be sure to mention his name.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
