Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Meet Rory â A Resilient, Loving German Shepherd Puppy Looking for Her Forever Home! Rory is a 7-month-old German Shepherd who has been through a tough battle with puppy strangles (juvenile cellulitis)âbut this brave girl is on the road to recovery! Sheâs currently on a prednisone taper and improving every day. Rory is looking for a foster-to-adopt home where she can continue her recovery while bonding with her future family. She still needs her rabies vaccine and spay, but she can start the search for her forever home now! A foster-to-adopt family would need to bring her to medical rechecks (weekly or biweekly, as needed) and later to her spay appointment when the time comes. Despite her health journey, Rory is an absolute sweetheartâa loving, loyal pup with so much potential. Sheâs eager to find a family that will support her through her final stages of healing and give her the wonderful life she deserves. If youâre interested in fostering-to-adopt Rory, please email sbcassouthfostercoordinatorgmail. Letâs find this amazing pup the perfect forever home.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
