Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. ‘PICNIC’ THEMED MOMMA: Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 50 lbs. Hi, I’m Betsy Ross! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control after giving birth to nine sweet puppies. When I first met the folks from Mostly Mutts, I proudly greeted them with a toy and led them straight to the kiddie pool where my babies were waiting. From there, I went home with a wonderful foster family, raised my pups, and now that most of them have found homes, it’s finally my turn to find a loving forever family of my own! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I get along well with the other dogs, both large and small, in my foster home, so if you have a dog, let’s meet! / I don’t really show interest in the kitties in my foster home and seem to respect their space. All cats are different, so I’m not sure how I would be with different cats. / I met kids that were 9 and 13 years old in my foster home and loved them! My fosters recommend older kids like them as right now I don’t seem to know what personal space is and will gently tackle them for snuggles. Not at all in a mean way, I just haven’t learned that I shouldn’t do that yet, so best no toddlers or very young kids. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m sweet as can be and a total lovebug who is snuggly, affectionate and just a wonderful companion that you will adore! Quick movements can startle me, but once you say hello properly, I’m all yours. Even during the busy day when my puppies were being vetted and photographed, I stayed calm and soaked up all the love from the volunteers, greeting them happily. / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’ve been busy raising my pups, so I haven’t really spent time working on commands yet, however I do know the ‘sit’ command. I think I’ll learn quickly though as I just adore treats! / I do just fine in my crate, and I used it as break time from my puppies when I needed that down time. / My potty manners are good in my foster home, and I’ll go to the door when I need to potty. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I adore snuggles, treats, food, and fun toys like Nyla bones and stuffed animals. Spending time with my people is my favorite, but I’m also happy to relax in another room during their workday. Most of the time, you’ll find me sitting close by, leaning in for pets and soaking up all the love I can get. / I haven’t shown any dislikes, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I had a small dermal cyst removed from my right side and the stitches will be coming out very shortly. I’m a wonderful dog looking for a wonderful family to love and be loved by. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
