Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. A DELIGHTFUL COMPANION: Approx. 10 years old / Approx. 32 lbs. Hi there, I’m Pinky! Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am very happy about that! I needed bloodwork and a good dental cleaning when I arrived and I've had those completed now, thanks to a generous grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization! I’m in a great foster home while I wait for my new family to come and adopt me – hopefully soon! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: There aren’t any other dogs in my foster home, but I’ve been nice with the ones I’ve seen on my walks, so if you have a nice dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet, but I have liked everyone I’ve met so far, so if you have gentle kids around 10 years old and up, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may accidentally bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster says I’m an adorable angel, full of joy, tail wags, and love to share. I’m about 10 years old, but my foster reports that I act younger - full of life and enthusiasm! I’m gentle, and such a sweet girl who looks to my people for direction and reassurance. At first, I was timid with sudden movements or noises, but I’ve already made great progress in my foster home. I warm up quickly and was calm and sweet for my shelter bath and ear cleaning. I’m intelligent, eager to please, submissive-natured and happiest just being by your side - your perfect companion! / Energy level: 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: In my foster home, I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘leave it’ and ‘lie down’ commands and I walk nicely on my leash. / I go into my crate well when my foster simply points to the opening and I’ve done well when they need to be away for a little while. I do enjoy a peanut butter Kong from time to time and I prefer not to spend a lot of time in a crate. / My potty manners have been great in my foster home, and I’ll alert when I need to go out by communicating this with a soft whine or vocalization. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I like so many things - mealtime, dog cookies, pill pockets, and even doggie ice cream! Walks are always a highlight, whether they’re long or short, because I love being outside taking in all the wonderful smells. Snuggling is one of my favorite pastimes - I’ll happily curl up in a blanket, play hide and seek under the covers, or just press my face against you while you stroke and cuddle me. Oh, and belly rubs? Yes, please - I’ll roll right over for those! / I haven’t shown interest in squeaky toys, chew bones or balls and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I had 12 teeth pulled during my dental cleaning, so my mouth is fresh again. I’m just a wonderful girl looking for a wonderful family that will treasure me and appreciate my delightful nature. My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
