Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). To adopt or for more information, please visit TaysiaBlue Hi, I’m Archie! I’m a really sweet boy who loves making new friends. I get along great with my foster brothers and I’ve been fitting right in. Going for walks is one of my favorite things—I’m easy to handle on leash, and my foster dad can even walk all three of us together with no problems! I’m still learning how to stay calm when we pass distractions like other dogs or squirrels, but I’m making progress. One thing you should know about me is that I really love being with my people, and I don’t love it when I’m left alone. My foster dad is helping me practice feeling safe and comfortable when he leaves, and I’m already starting to learn. Overall, I’m a sweet, loyal pup who just wants to be loved and included. I can’t wait to find my forever family to share my walks, cuddles, and big heart with. Apply today to meet me—I’d love to be your new best friend! Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
