Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (medium coat). When Latte first arrived, she was a bit shy and easily startled by noises, but she quickly came out of her shell. Within just a few days in her weekend foster, she learned how to use the dog door, discovered that car rides are fun, and had a blast playing with her fosterâs dog. Latte is house trained, good with dogs and kids, and walks nicely on a leash with a training collar. The foster family has a cat that Latte liked to annoy, trying to chase the cat. She loved curling up on a big comfy bed and didnât need a crate overnight. Latteâs foster noted that while she may not know many basic commands yet, sheâs eager to learn and responds well to gentle guidance. She enjoyed playing with the resident dog and was respectful during play. In shelter playgroups, sheâs been a âRough and Rowdyâ playerâsocial, fun-loving, and appropriately mannered with other dogs. With her sweet nature, playful energy, and growing confidence, Latte will make a wonderful addition to a loving home ready to keep building on her progress.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
