Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed. *Name: Molly *Age: 6 years old *Current Weight: 47 lbs *Adoption fee: $300 Molly is an adult female hound dog. She is a sweetheart and has a very pleasant demeanor. She can be a little shy to start, but adjusts nicely to her environment. She has been good with other dogs including little puppies and her medium sized foster sisters. She has also done well with children. She has not officially met a cat, but has not reacted to them in passing. Based upon her calm and sweet personality she would most likely be fine with them. Molly enjoys going for walks, being pet, and a good meal. Upon arriving to her foster home she was very underweight so a good meal or treat is something she really enjoys. She does well in her crate when left home alone and at night for sleeping. Sometimes she will just go into her crate on her own just to lay down and relax. She is a quiet dog. Based upon her age and energy level, Molly would probably do best with an owner/in a home with a low to moderate level of activity. Her gentle nature makes her a great fit for a home with people of any age. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at snarrnortheast/adopt/ PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
