Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Toby — the cutest little guy with the biggest heart! Toby was rescued from East Valley Animal Shelter, where he was terrified, nervous, and overwhelmed by the noisy shelter environment. Despite everything he's been through, this sweet 6-year-old is still incredibly gentle and friendly. Toby weighs about 20 lbs and is a total lovebug with people and dogs — even the big ones (yep, he’s braver than he looks )! He just wants to feel safe, loved, and part of a calm, caring home. Toby is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, and he’s more than ready to find a forever family who will show him the love and security he’s been missing. He may be shy at first, but once he trusts you, Toby will be your most loyal companion. Could you be the one to show Toby what home really means?

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
