Description
Dog Breed: Brittany (medium coat). Archie is a six-year-old, purebred, neutered male with a stunning liver and white roan coat and an athletic build. He is solid and compact in size, but weighs 41 pounds. He’s as handsome as he is smart, and he’s ready to find his forever family! Archie came to NBRAN after his previous family’s living situation changed from a home with a yard to a condo. Since Archie thrives on being outdoors—playing, sniffing, and exploring—he struggled without the space he loves. For that reason, Archie’s new home must have a secure fenced yard (6 ft. required). This bright boy already knows sit, shake, down, spin and would love to keep learning. With his smaller frame, agility could be a perfect fit for him! He’s very food-motivated, making training both fun and rewarding. Speaking of food, this little guy LOVES to counter surf and has been known to snatch food from your hand. Therefore, a home with dog-experienced children (10+ years) would be acceptable. Once he eats his supper, he might get a "food coma" and then start to wind down for the evening. He is happy to sit next to you while you watch your favorite TV show or read a good book. Archie enjoys the company of other dogs, but he hasn’t been tested with cats. Like many smart pups, Archie sometimes practices a little “selective hearing” when he’s nose-down in the yard—but the sound of a treat bag brings him running every time. He’s also an alert barker and will let you know if something seems out of the ordinary. Archie’s ideal match will be an active person or family who loves the outdoors as much as he does. Walks, babypool/water, casual hikes, and backyard adventures are his absolute favorites. If you’re looking for a loyal, compact size, smart, and energetic companion, Archie may be the perfect match. The adoption fee for Archie, who lives in Highlands Ranch, CO is $350, which helps offset our vetting and allows NBRAN to rescue more of these wonderful family members. If you are interested in making Archie a part of your family, please complete the on-line application by visiting .nbran . Your state coordinator/volunteer will conduct a phone interview, home visit and vet check as part of the approval process. Once all 3 have been approved, we will begin the matching process. Transportation can be arranged up to 1400 miles with the adopter being responsible for at least the last 100 miles.

Overview:
The Brittany is a beloved and versatile gun dog, originating from the Brittany province of France in the 17th century. These medium-sized dogs are instantly recognizable by their athletic build, often appearing leggy and agile, with a dense, flat or wavy coat that comes in orange and white, or liver and white. Their intelligent and eager-to-please nature makes them incredibly trainable and responsive. Temperamentally, Brittanys are known for being friendly, energetic, and affectionate, making them excellent companions for active families. While their moderate size might suggest apartment living, their high energy levels and need for regular exercise mean they thrive best in homes with a yard or access to plenty of outdoor space. Generally a healthy breed, they can be predisposed to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia, and sometimes epilepsy, so responsible breeding practices are crucial. With proper training and socialization, a Brittany will undoubtedly enrich the lives of its devoted family.
