Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (medium coat). Meet Penelope! She is a one-year-old Chiweenie with maybe a little spaniel in her, judging by the silky hair on her ears. This gorgeous little fox came into the shelter pregnant and gave birth to two babies. Sadly one passed shortly after birth, so she has poured all of her love and energy into raising her sweet baby girl Polly. At just 15 pounds, Penelope is a petite beauty with her striking red coat, classic puppy dog eyes, and gentle, observant nature. She may be shy at first, preferring to quietly watch and learn, but once she trusts you, she blossoms into a tail wagging, kiss giving little love. Penelope is fully potty pad trained but also knows to go outside on the grass. She loves being outside and exploring nature so would do well in a home with a yard but also would do fine in a smaller home with outside playtime. She enjoys having her tummy and silky ears rubbed while being told just how gorgeous she is. After a rough start in life, Penelope is ready for her forever family—a calm, gentle, and predictable home where she can feel safe, relax, and finally just be a dog. She enjoys other dogs but can appreciates a dog who respects her space until she is comfortable. She is also great around kids and others who meet her.
