Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Fill out an Adoption Application Radar wandered up on a gentlemen’s farm in Andrews, SC in September. With no identification or chip, no responses from social media posts, the finder reached out to all shelters only to find they were all full. Radar is a beautiful, brown male pup with a striking blonde face and cute, floppy ears. He currently weighs about 30 lbs. He is full of energy and love and likes to play with dogs his size or larger. But he also loves to cuddle like a lap dog and would do fine in a home alone. He loves belly rubs and playing with toys. He’s learning to fetch and seems eager to learn, especially when bribed by treats. He is very people friendly but has not been observed with children. Since he can get the zoomies, which makes us laugh hysterically, he could have an issue with elderly people or small children as a tripping hazard. He wants to play with cats, but he doesn’t realize his strength and can play too hard. So, it is probably best he find a cat less home. He’s fine with other dogs, but wants to play hard and therefore, dogs his size or larger work the best. He has the goofiest puppy moves, sometimes focusing on what’s behind him, instead of watching where he’s going! Radar has some small scars on his head. The are part of his cuteness. He also has a cute little cowlick on the back of his neck. It’s all part of what makes him, Radar. And if you wonder about the name, this pup doesn’t miss a thing. He’s dialed in at all times and ready to take a car ride, a walk, or any adventure you enjoy. Radar is learning to walk properly on a leash, and we are working on not barking at people and dogs when seeing them out the window. Radar has a high energy level and likes to stay busy. He loves chewing on pig ears and any other toy that makes noise. He has a heart full of love and a lifetime of kisses for some lucky person who wants a loyal, beautiful, sweet boy. Radar is crate trained and working on house and leash manners. He is very good in the car also. Radar is now completely vetted.

Breed overview

Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
