Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 550. Hi, I’m Faye! I’m a sweet hound mix pup born at the end of April who loves people—both adults and kids—and I get along with other dogs. I’m still a little shy when I first meet new dog friends, but once I warm up, I love to play (especially with my foster sister!). I like long walks at the park and even longer naps on the couch. I’m working hard on my potty training and I’ve almost got it figured out. I absolutely love belly rubs, and meal time is one of my favorite parts of the day—I never miss a bite! I’m looking for a forever family who will give me love, patience, and plenty of playtime. If you’re ready for a gentle, happy pup to join your life, I’d love to meet you! A family who is home a lot to provide me with guidance and socialization would be perfect. Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
