Description
Dog Breed: Presa Canario / Mastiff (short coat). Meet Nora – A Gentle Soul Ready for Her Second Chance *UPDATES FROM HER FOSTER MOM* Nora has been the sweetest girl while in foster. She loves both her foster mom and dad. She appears to have interest in other dogs but she can't play or interact due to her pending surgery. She is VERY food motivated and loves to work for food. Her foster parents can clean her ears and put pills down her mouth no problem. She is great in the house, doesnt jump on furniture, is good in her crate, ignores the other dogs in the home. Her one quirk is food. When eating she doesnt enjoy other dogs staring at her. Thats understandable considering where she came from. One very cute update. She has a stuffed bear she carries around everywhere!! She loves it! See the picture. Breed: Presa Canario Age: 2 years Location: Available through Buster Dogs Nora is a stunning 2-year-old Presa Canario with a heart as big as her beautiful frame. Though her journey so far hasn't been easy, she hasn’t let it dim her gentle spirit. Nora has already had 2–3 different owners in her short life and was bred at least once before arriving at animal control with a fractured pelvis. Despite the pain and upheaval, she has shown nothing but sweetness and resilience. This special girl is healing now, and every day she reminds us how incredibly kind and affectionate she can be. She's calm, soulful, and carries herself with a quiet dignity that touches everyone she meets. She may do well with a like sized male dog. At the moment she has some food based reactivity around other dogs. However she has NO reactivity around humans. What Nora Needs: Presa Canarios are a unique and powerful breed — loyal, protective, and deeply bonded to their people. Nora is no different. She’ll thrive in a home with someone who understands the breed’s needs: strong leadership, consistent structure, and a whole lot of love. She deserves a forever home where she can finally feel safe, cherished, and respected — not just as a pet, but as a true family member. Could You Be the One? Nora isn’t for just anyone — she’s for someone special. Someone who sees beyond her past and into her limitless potential. Are you the perfect match for Nora? Apply today at BusterDogs. Let’s write her a new chapter — one filled with love, healing, and forever.

Overview:
The Presa Canario, also known as the Canary Mastiff, is a large and powerful breed originating from the Canary Islands of Spain, where it was historically used for guarding livestock and property. Physically, they are imposing with a mastiff-type build, a broad head, and a short, dense coat typically in fawn, brindle, or black. Temperamentally, a well-socialized Presa Canario is known for its calm, confident, and loyal nature, making them devoted protectors of their family. However, their strong protective instincts and size mean they are generally not recommended for first-time dog owners or apartment living, requiring experienced handling, extensive socialization from a young age, and a secure, spacious environment. While generally robust, they can be prone to common large-breed health issues such as hip and elbow dysplasia and certain heart conditions, necessitating regular veterinary check-ups and a high-quality diet.
